Higher tobacco age limit in force

The move is designed to cut teenage smoking rates

The legal minimum age at which tobacco can be bought in England, Scotland and Wales has gone up from 16 to 18.

The government hopes the move will reduce the number of young people who smoke and make it easier for retailers to spot under-age smokers.

HEALTH: UNAIDS Head Puts the Spotlight on Children and Teens

BOSTON, Sep 30 (IPS) - The executive director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) is urging action as concerns the transmission of HIV to children through sexual abuse, incest and early teenage sex.

Early Intervention Is Key For Youth Mental Illness - Medical Journal Of Australia

The more that is invested in mental health services for young adults and teenagers - tackling the problem at an early stage, the better it is for a country’s economy and mental health in general, according to an article in the Medical Journal of Australia.

Professor Patrick McGorry, Professor of Youth Mental Health, University of Melbourne, and team say that in order to bridge the gap between pediatric and adult mental health services, the service must be improved and expanded (In a Journal supplement, Early Intervention in Youth Mental Health).
